The Poppy Factory was founded in 1922 and has provided employment support to veterans and their family members since. This charity was set up by Major George Howson MC and Major Jack Cohen after receiving a grant of £2,0000 from The British Legion to support First World War veterans. It was originally based in The Old Kent Road, London and moved to Richmond in 1926 in a building that originally was a brewery. Each year The Poppy Factory produces 1000,000 wreaths plus 250 Royal special wreaths made by ex-service personnel.
